How do I choose the right cannabis seeds for me?
Think about your growing experience, available space, climate, and desired harvest time. Beginners generally do best with easy, resilient genetics. Deciding whether you want convenience, plant-count control, or breeding potential points you toward feminized, autoflower, or regular seeds.
What’s the difference between feminized, autoflowering, and regular seeds?
Feminized seeds are bred to grow almost exclusively into female, bud-producing plants. Autoflowering seeds shift from vegetative growth to flowering automatically based on age rather than light cycle. Regular seeds produce a natural mix of male and female plants. See our dedicated Feminized, Autoflowering, and Regular Seeds categories for details.
How do I germinate cannabis seeds?
The most popular method is the paper towel technique: place seeds between damp (not soaked) paper towels inside a plastic bag, and keep them warm and dark around 70-85F (21-29C). Most healthy seeds crack and show a small white taproot within 3-10 days and can then be moved into soil.
How can I tell if a seed is good quality before planting?
Quality seeds are typically brown, often with a marbled or tiger-stripe pattern, and have a firm, slightly waxy shell. Avoid seeds that are green, white, very small, cracked, or soft and hollow. A simple water test can help too: viable seeds tend to sink.
Are cannabis seeds legal to buy and have shipped to me?
Cannabis seeds are typically sold as novelty, souvenir, or collector items, and legality varies significantly by country, state, and local jurisdiction. It’s your responsibility to check the laws where you live before purchasing or germinating seeds.
Will my order arrive in discreet or unmarked packaging?
Yes, orders are shipped in plain, unbranded packaging with no mention of cannabis, seeds, or related logos on the outside. Seeds are securely packed inside to prevent damage and protect your privacy throughout shipping.
How long can I store cannabis seeds before they lose viability?
Stored properly, cannabis seeds commonly stay viable for 3-5 years, and many growers report good germination even after longer. The key is keeping seeds cool, dark, dry, and away from temperature swings, ideally in an airtight container in a fridge.
What accessories or equipment do I need to start growing from seed?
At minimum: a germination setup (paper towels or germination plugs), small starter pots, quality soil or growing medium, and an appropriate light source for seedlings. A humidity dome and heat mat can help stabilize early conditions indoors.

Feminised Seeds

View products →

What are feminized cannabis seeds?
Feminized cannabis seeds are bred to produce almost exclusively female plants, typically around 99% of the time. Since only female plants produce the resin-rich buds growers want, feminized seeds remove the guesswork of sexing plants and growing out unwanted males.
How are feminized seeds made?
Breeders trigger a female plant to produce male pollen sacs, usually by spraying it with colloidal silver during early flowering, which disrupts the plant’s hormone signaling. That pollen carries only female genetics, so pollinating another female with it produces seeds that grow into female plants.
What are the main advantages of growing feminized seeds?
Every seed has a strong chance of becoming a bud-producing female, so you don’t waste time, space, lights, or nutrients raising males you’ll have to discard. This makes planning your grow simpler and more space- and cost-efficient.
What’s the difference between feminized and autoflower seeds?
Feminized (photoperiod) seeds need a light-cycle change to flower and generally take longer to mature (roughly 12-20 weeks), but tend to grow larger and yield more. Autoflowering seeds flower automatically based on age, finishing faster (about 7-12 weeks). Most modern autoflower seeds are also feminized.
What germination and success rates can I expect from feminized seeds?
Fresh, properly stored feminized seeds from a reputable seed bank typically germinate at a 90%+ rate and produce female plants around 99% of the time. Seeds usually sprout within 24-72 hours under warm, moist conditions.
Are feminized seeds good for beginners?
Yes, feminized seeds are one of the most beginner-friendly options because they remove the need to identify and cull male plants, leading to more predictable growth and fewer surprises.
Do feminized plants produce their own seeds?
Not usually, since there’s no male plant present to pollinate them. However, significant stress (temperature swings, light leaks, physical damage, or nutrient problems) can trigger a female plant to develop hermaphroditic traits and self-pollinate.
How should feminized seeds be stored, and how long do they stay viable?
Store feminized seeds in a cool, dark, dry place, ideally in an airtight container in a refrigerator. Properly stored seeds commonly remain viable for 2-5 years, though germination rates gradually decline the longer they’re kept.

Autoflower Seeds

View products →

What are autoflowering cannabis seeds?
Autoflowering seeds produce plants that switch from vegetative growth to flowering automatically based on age, rather than needing a change in light cycle. This trait comes from Cannabis ruderalis, a hardy subspecies that evolved in short-summer climates.
How are autoflowering seeds different from photoperiod seeds?
Photoperiod strains need a light schedule change (typically from 18/6 to 12/12) to trigger flowering, while autoflowers begin flowering on their own after roughly 2-4 weeks regardless of light exposure. Autoflowers are generally smaller, faster, and less demanding to manage.
Do I need to change the light schedule to make autoflowers flower?
No. Autoflowers flower on an internal timer no matter what light schedule they’re given, so growers can keep them under 18-20 hours of light per day for the entire life cycle to maximize growth and yield.
How long does an autoflower grow cycle take from seed to harvest?
Most autoflowering strains are ready to harvest in about 8-10 weeks from germination, with some fast varieties finishing in as little as 7-8 weeks.
Are autoflowering seeds good for beginners?
Yes, autoflowers are widely recommended for beginners because they don’t require light-cycle management, tend to be compact and forgiving, and finish quickly, so mistakes cost less time.
Can you get multiple harvests per season with autoflowers?
Yes. Because autoflowers aren’t tied to seasonal daylight changes, you can plant new seeds every few weeks (as long as there’s no frost) and stagger multiple harvests within a single outdoor growing season.
Can autoflowers handle training techniques like topping or heavy pruning?
Autoflowers have a short, fixed life cycle and can’t revert to vegetative growth to recover from stress, so heavy techniques like topping or severe pruning can cost growing days and reduce yield. Low-stress training is the preferred method.
Do autoflowering seeds come in feminized versions?
Most commercial autoflower seeds are bred as feminized autoflowers, combining the automatic flowering trait with a near-100% chance of female, bud-producing plants.

Regular Seeds

View products →

What are regular cannabis seeds?
Regular seeds are cannabis seeds in their natural, unaltered form, the direct offspring of a male plant pollinating a female plant. They haven’t been treated to influence sex, making them the purest genetic expression of the parent strains.
What male-to-female ratio can I expect from regular seeds?
Regular seeds are generally expected to produce a roughly 50/50 split of male and female plants, though the natural ratio sometimes skews slightly female. Growers should plan for extra seeds and be ready to identify and remove males.
How do I identify the sex of a regular cannabis seedling?
Male and female plants look identical during early vegetative growth. Sex organs typically appear at the nodes 3-8 weeks after germination: females develop thin, white, hair-like pistils, while males develop small, round pollen sacs.
Why do experienced growers and breeders choose regular seeds over feminized seeds?
Regular seeds preserve the plant’s complete natural gene pool, including the male genetics needed for cross-breeding, and tend to show robust, vigorous growth. Breeders often view them as the safest bet for genetic purity.
Why are regular seeds important for breeding programs?
Breeding new strains requires pollen, and only male plants produce it, feminized seeds eliminate males entirely, making them unsuitable for creating new genetics. Serious breeders select male plants as carefully as females.
What is pheno hunting, and why are regular seeds preferred for it?
Pheno hunting is growing out a large population from the same cross to find a standout plant with the most desirable traits. Regular seeds are preferred because their population expresses the full genetic range of the cross, including more phenotype diversity.
What should I do with male plants if I’m not breeding?
Identify and remove male plants as soon as pollen sacs appear, ideally before the sacs open. Left in place, a male will pollinate nearby females, redirecting their energy into seed production instead of resin and bud development.
Are regular seeds good for beginners?
Regular seeds are generally not recommended as a first choice for new growers, since they require the extra skill of identifying and removing male plants before pollination occurs. Feminized seeds are usually easier for a first grow.

CBD

What exactly is CBD?
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a natural compound extracted from the cannabis plant. It is one of dozens of cannabinoids the plant produces, and it does not cause a high or any form of intoxication. It is typically taken as an oil, capsule, gummy, vape, or in traditional flower and hash form.
Is CBD legal in Europe?
In most of Europe, CBD products made from legally cultivated hemp with very low THC content are permitted for sale, though exact rules, allowed THC limits, and labeling requirements can vary from one country to another. We recommend checking the specific regulations for your country or region before ordering, and we only ship products that comply with the relevant local rules.
Will CBD get me high?
No. CBD itself is non-intoxicating and does not produce the high associated with THC. Products sold as CBD are formulated to stay within legal THC limits, so you can expect a clear-headed, functional experience rather than a psychoactive one.
What’s the difference between CBD and THC?
CBD and THC are both cannabinoids found in cannabis, but they behave very differently. THC is psychoactive and is responsible for the classic cannabis high, while CBD is non-intoxicating and is generally chosen for relaxation, routine, or general wellbeing rather than any mind-altering effect. Many products combine small amounts of both, so it’s worth checking the label if you want to avoid THC entirely.
How do I choose the right CBD product for me?
It depends on your priorities. If you want fast absorption and flexible dosing, an oil or tincture is a good starting point. If you prefer convenience and a pre-measured dose, capsules or gummies are easier to manage. If you enjoy a more traditional ritual, CBD flower, hash, or a vape may suit you better. Beginners generally do well starting with a lower-strength product and adjusting from there.
How much CBD should I take?
There’s no universal dose, since it depends on the product, its concentration, and personal preference. A common approach is to start with a low strength, use it consistently for a period of time, and gradually adjust based on how you feel. Always follow the dosing guidance printed on the specific product you purchase.
How can I tell if a CBD product is good quality?
Look for products that list their cannabinoid content clearly and that have been tested by an independent laboratory, ideally with a certificate of analysis available. Good manufacturing practices, clear sourcing of the hemp, and transparent labeling of THC content are all signs of a trustworthy product.
Who should avoid using CBD products?
CBD products are intended for adult use only. People who are pregnant or breastfeeding, individuals taking prescription medication, or anyone with an existing medical condition should speak with a healthcare professional before use, since CBD can interact with certain medications. This content is provided for general information only and is not medical advice.
What are CBD flowers?
CBD flowers are the dried buds of female hemp plants that have been bred specifically for a high cannabidiol (CBD) content and a minimal level of THC. They look, smell, and are trimmed much like traditional cannabis flower, but instead of producing an intoxicating effect, they’re valued for their aroma, terpene profile, and place in the broader hemp product category.
What is the legal THC limit for CBD flowers in Europe?
Across most of Europe, hemp products including CBD flowers must stay under a legally defined THC threshold, generally somewhere around 0.2% to 0.3% depending on the country you’re in, with some regions applying stricter limits. Because rules vary by country and can change, it’s always worth checking the current regulations in your specific region before buying, traveling with, or using CBD flowers.
Will CBD flowers get me high?
No. Because the THC content is kept below the legal threshold, CBD flowers do not produce the psychoactive high associated with regular cannabis. CBD itself is non-intoxicating, so even in larger amounts, CBD flower is not expected to cause a euphoric or impairing effect the way high-THC cannabis does.
Do CBD flowers look and smell like regular cannabis?
Yes, visually and aromatically they’re very similar. CBD flowers are covered in the same resin-rich trichomes and carry rich, varied terpene profiles that give each variety its own scent, from citrusy and sweet to earthy and pungent. The main difference isn’t how they look or smell, but their cannabinoid makeup: high CBD, negligible THC.
Will CBD flowers show up on a drug test?
They can, in some cases. Standard drug tests are typically designed to detect THC or its metabolites, not CBD itself. Because CBD flowers legally still contain trace amounts of THC, regular or heavy use could theoretically contribute to a positive result, particularly with more sensitive tests.
How do people use CBD flowers?
CBD flowers are typically used the way traditional dried flower is used, most commonly vaporized, though some people incorporate them into teas or other preparations. Many customers prefer vaporizing as a gentler alternative to combustion.
How should I store CBD flowers to keep them fresh?
Keep CBD flowers in an airtight, opaque container, away from direct light, heat, and humidity. A cool, dark cupboard works well, and a proper storage jar helps preserve aroma and prevents the flower from drying out or losing potency.
What’s the difference between CBD flower and regular THC flower?
The core difference is chemical, not visual. Both come from the cannabis plant and can look nearly identical, but THC flower is bred to maximize THC and its intoxicating effects, while CBD flower is bred to maximize CBD while keeping THC below the legal non-intoxicating threshold.
What exactly is CBD oil?
CBD oil is a liquid product made by combining CBD (cannabidiol), a natural compound drawn from the hemp plant, with a carrier oil. The carrier oil helps stabilise the extract and makes it easy to measure out consistent drops for daily use.
What’s the difference between full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate CBD oil?
Full-spectrum oil retains a wide range of naturally occurring hemp compounds, including trace cannabinoids and terpenes, alongside CBD. Broad-spectrum offers a similar mix of compounds but has THC removed or reduced to negligible levels. Isolate contains CBD on its own, with no other plant compounds, and is usually the most neutral in taste.
Does CBD oil contain THC?
Full-spectrum oils may contain trace amounts of THC, kept within the legal limits that apply in your country or region. Broad-spectrum and isolate oils are formulated to contain little to no detectable THC. If you want to avoid THC entirely, broad-spectrum or isolate is the safer choice.
How do I take CBD oil drops?
The most common method is sublingual: place the drops underneath your tongue and hold them there for around 60 to 90 seconds before swallowing. You can also simply swallow the drops or mix them into food or a drink if you prefer.
How do I know how many drops to take?
Most bottles come with a dropper that delivers a consistent drop size, and the product label will show how many milligrams of CBD are in each drop based on the bottle’s strength. It’s sensible to start low, especially if you’re new to CBD, and increase slowly over time.
How long does it take to feel the effects of CBD oil?
When taken sublingually, effects are generally noticed sooner than with methods that pass entirely through digestion, often within 15 to 45 minutes, though this varies from person to person based on body weight, metabolism, and regularity of use.
How should I store CBD oil, and does it expire?
Keep the bottle upright in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat, and make sure the cap is closed tightly after each use. Once opened, most CBD oils are best used within about six months to maintain freshness and potency.
How is CBD oil extracted from the hemp plant?
CBD is most commonly extracted using methods like CO2 extraction, which uses pressurised carbon dioxide to draw the cannabinoids and other beneficial compounds from the plant material without harsh solvents. The resulting extract is then filtered and blended with a carrier oil.
What are CBD vape cartridges?
CBD vape cartridges are small, pre-filled containers holding a concentrated CBD distillate, ready to screw onto a compatible rechargeable battery. Everything is sealed inside the cartridge from the start, so there’s no filling, dripping, or mixing involved, you simply attach it to a battery and it’s ready to use.
What is CBD distillate, and how is it different from other vape liquids?
Distillate is a highly refined hemp extract created through a purification process that concentrates cannabinoids to a very high level, without the propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, or other carrier liquids used in some e-liquids. Because refining naturally strips away the plant’s terpenes, they’re carefully reintroduced afterward to restore aroma and flavor.
What device do I need to use a CBD vape cartridge?
Our cartridges use a widely compatible thread connection found on most standard rechargeable vape batteries, so you can pair them with a battery you already own or a basic replacement battery. Simply screw the cartridge on; most batteries activate automatically as soon as you inhale.
How much CBD and other cannabinoids are in each cartridge?
Our cartridges typically carry a total cannabinoid concentration of around 91%, with CBD as the dominant cannabinoid alongside smaller, naturally occurring amounts of other cannabinoids. Exact percentages are listed on each product page, along with THC content, which stays within the legal limits that apply across Europe.
Do CBD vape cartridges contain terpenes?
Yes. Because the refining process used to concentrate the cannabinoids also removes the plant’s natural terpenes, terpenes are reintroduced afterward so each cartridge still delivers a distinct aroma and flavor alongside its cannabinoid content.
Will CBD vape cartridges get me high?
No. CBD itself is non-intoxicating, and our cartridges are formulated to keep THC below the legal threshold that applies across Europe, so you won’t experience the high associated with higher-THC cannabis products.
How long does a cartridge last, and can the distillate crystallize?
How long a cartridge lasts depends on how often you use it, but each one is designed to deliver many uses before needing replacement. The distillate is formulated to resist crystallizing inside the cartridge, so the oil stays smooth and easy to vaporize all the way to the last puff.
How should I store a CBD vape cartridge?
Store cartridges upright in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat, ideally in their original packaging when not in use. This helps protect the distillate’s consistency and keeps the terpene flavor from fading over time.
What is a CBD dab applicator?
A CBD dab applicator is a syringe-style tool pre-filled with concentrated CBD distillate. Instead of scooping out a sticky wax or shatter by hand, you simply twist the plunger to dispense a controlled, mess-free amount exactly where you want it.
How do I use a CBD dab applicator?
Twist the plunger slowly to push out the amount of concentrate you need, then apply it directly onto a dab rig’s heated surface, mix it into flower for an extra boost, or stir it into your own recipes. The precise dispensing helps you control your dose and avoid wasting product.
What’s the advantage of an applicator over traditional wax or shatter?
Traditional concentrates need to be portioned out by hand, which can get messy and make it hard to judge exactly how much you’re using. An applicator dispenses a controlled amount with each twist, giving you consistent dosing, less waste, and a cleaner overall experience.
Can I use a CBD dab applicator for more than just dabbing?
Yes. Because the concentrate is easy to dispense in small, precise amounts, the applicator format also works well for adding a boost to flower, mixing into homemade infusions, or measuring CBD into your own recipes.
Do CBD dab applicators contain terpenes?
Yes. The distillate inside each applicator is enriched with natural terpenes, which restore aroma and flavor that the refining process would otherwise strip away, alongside the cannabinoid content.
How much CBD and other cannabinoids are in each applicator?
Our applicators typically carry a total cannabinoid concentration of around 91%, with CBD as the dominant cannabinoid alongside smaller, naturally occurring amounts of other cannabinoids. Exact percentages and fill sizes are listed on each product page, along with THC content, which stays within the legal limits that apply across Europe.
How should I store a CBD dab applicator?
Store the applicator upright in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat, ideally in its original packaging when not in use. This helps keep the concentrate at a consistent, easy-to-dispense texture and preserves its terpene flavor over time.
Is dabbing CBD safe?
Dabbing is generally considered a lower-combustion way to consume concentrate since it vaporizes rather than burns the material, though no method of inhalation is entirely without risk. As with any concentrated product, moderate use matters, and anyone with respiratory concerns should speak with a doctor first.
What is CBD hash?
CBD hash is a concentrated form of cannabis resin made from hemp flowers that are naturally rich in CBD. The trichomes, the tiny resin glands that coat the flower, are separated from the plant material and then compressed into a solid block, slab, or ball.
How is CBD hash made?
Producers use a few different techniques to pull the resin away from the plant. Dry sifting passes dried flower through fine mesh screens so only the resin heads fall through. Water-based sieving uses ice and agitation to knock trichomes loose, which then settle out and get filtered through progressively finer screens.
What’s the difference between CBD hash and CBD flower?
CBD flower is simply the dried bud as it comes off the plant, trichomes and all. CBD hash is a step further in processing: those trichomes are extracted and concentrated into a denser product, generally carrying a higher percentage of cannabinoids per gram than flower.
What are the different types or textures of CBD hash?
Hash varies quite a bit depending on how it’s made and pressed. Some varieties are light in color, dry, and crumbly, breaking apart easily between the fingers. Others are dark, dense, and sticky, holding together in a solid block that softens slightly with body heat.
What THC limit applies to CBD hash sold in Europe?
Across most of Europe, hemp-derived CBD products, including hash, are required to stay under a THC threshold of around 0.3 percent, though some countries apply a lower limit, so it is worth checking local rules before ordering. Reputable sellers test each batch to confirm THC stays under the legal ceiling.
How is CBD hash typically consumed?
CBD hash can be broken into small pieces and vaporized at a controlled temperature, crumbled into a rolling paper on its own or with dry herb, or gently warmed and added to a pipe.
How should CBD hash be stored?
Keep hash in an airtight container, away from direct light, heat, and humidity. Properly stored, hash tends to hold its texture, aroma, and potency for a long time.
What should I look for to judge the quality of CBD hash?
Good hash usually has a clean, well-defined aroma tied to the hemp it came from, without any musty or chemical smell. Texture should be consistent for the style, and color should be even throughout. A trustworthy seller will back the product up with lab testing.
What exactly are CBD gummies?
CBD gummies are chewable candies infused with a measured amount of cannabidiol (CBD) extracted from hemp. They offer a simple, pre-portioned way to consume CBD without needing oils, tinctures, or smoking equipment.
How much CBD is typically in one gummy?
This varies by product, but most gummies contain somewhere between 5mg and 50mg of CBD each, with the exact amount always listed on the packaging. Check the label on each specific product page so you know precisely what you’re taking.
How long do CBD gummies take to kick in compared to CBD oil?
Gummies generally take longer to take effect than oil taken under the tongue, since they need to be digested first. Most people notice effects within 30 minutes to around 2 hours, whereas sublingual oil tends to act faster because it’s absorbed more directly.
How long do the effects of CBD gummies last?
Because they’re processed through digestion, gummies tend to offer a longer-lasting experience than oils, often several hours, though this varies from person to person.
Are CBD gummies legal in Europe?
In most European countries, CBD products made from hemp with negligible or legally permitted THC levels are treated as food supplements and are legal to sell and consume. Regulations can differ slightly depending on your specific country or region, so it’s worth checking local rules if you’re uncertain.
Do CBD gummies contain THC?
Reputable CBD gummies are formulated to contain either 0% THC or only trace, legally compliant levels that are far too low to produce any intoxicating effect. Always check the lab report or certificate of analysis for a given product if you want certainty.
How should CBD gummies be stored?
Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat, ideally in their original sealed packaging or an airtight container. Avoid storing them somewhere warm, as heat can affect texture and potency over time.
Do CBD gummies have a shelf life?
Yes, like any edible product, CBD gummies have a best-before date, usually somewhere around 12 to 18 months from production when stored properly. Check the packaging for the specific date on your product.

What is a vaporizer, and how is it different from smoking?
A vaporizer heats dry herb or concentrate to a set temperature that releases its active compounds and aroma as vapor, without burning the material. Because there’s no combustion, you avoid the smoke, ash, and burnt plant byproducts that come with traditional smoking.
What’s the difference between desktop and portable vaporizers?
Desktop vaporizers plug into the mains and are built for home use, often with larger chambers and steady heat output that make them well suited to sharing with others. Portable vaporizers run on a rechargeable battery, are more compact, and are designed for convenience away from home.
Why does temperature control matter?
Different active compounds and terpenes are released at different temperatures, so precise control lets you fine-tune both the flavor and intensity of each session. Lower temperatures tend to highlight flavor and aroma, while higher temperatures release more of the plant’s compounds at once.
What’s the difference between convection and conduction heating?
Conduction heats the herb directly through contact with a heated chamber, while convection passes hot air through the material instead. Many higher-end vaporizers combine both methods, using conduction to warm the chamber and convection to vaporize the herb more evenly.
What are dosing capsules, and why would I use them?
Dosing capsules let you pre-fill a measured amount of herb in advance, so you can swap in a fresh capsule instead of grinding and loading your device each time. They’re a convenient way to keep sessions consistent, portioned, and mess-free, especially when you’re out and about.
How do I clean and maintain a vaporizer?
Most vaporizers can be taken apart for cleaning: soak water-resistant parts in warm, soapy water, use a soft brush to clear residue from screens and chambers, and let everything dry fully before reassembling. Replacing screens, seals, and other wear parts periodically also helps keep performance and airflow consistent.
Can vaporizers be used with both dry herb and concentrates?
Many vaporizers are designed specifically for dry herb, while others include attachments or chambers suited to concentrates as well. Check the specifications on each product page, since the ideal temperature range and accessories can differ between the two.
Are vaporizers legal to buy and use in Europe?
Vaporizers themselves are legal consumer devices across Europe, since they’re simply heating tools. What you choose to vaporize in them is subject to your local laws, so it’s worth checking the specific regulations in your country or region.
What does a grinder actually do?
A grinder breaks down loose herb into a fine, even texture that’s easier to pack into a joint, pipe, or vaporizer. Evenly ground material burns or vaporizes more consistently than unground or unevenly torn herb.
What’s the benefit of a non-stick coating on a grinder?
Herb and resin can build up on bare metal teeth over repeated use, which slows the grind and wastes material stuck to the surface. A non-stick coating keeps the mechanism turning smoothly for longer and helps more of your herb end up where you want it.
How many pieces should a grinder have?
A basic 2-piece grinder is fine for simple, everyday grinding, while 3- and 4-piece designs add a collection chamber and a separate screened compartment that gathers kief as you grind. More pieces mean more function, but also a slightly bulkier grinder.
What is the mesh screen for, and what is kief?
The fine mesh screen sits between the grinding chamber and the bottom compartment, letting resin glands (kief) fall through while keeping larger plant material out. Kief collects separately over time and can be used on its own or added to future sessions for extra potency.
What materials are grinders usually made from?
Most quality grinders are machined from aluminum, sometimes with an anodized or non-stick coated finish for extra durability and a smoother grinding action. Sturdier, precisely machined metal resists wear, keeps threads turning smoothly, and holds up to repeated use far better than plastic.
Why do some grinders have a magnetic lid?
A magnetic lid keeps the grinder securely closed between uses, which helps preserve aroma, keeps herb fresh, and prevents ground material from spilling out in a bag or pocket.
How should I clean my grinder?
Remove any built-up residue with a small brush, and for a deeper clean, most metal grinders can be soaked briefly in isopropyl alcohol before being rinsed and left to dry completely. Cleaning regularly helps keep the teeth and screen working at full efficiency.
How do I know if a grinder’s teeth are good quality?
Look for sharp, evenly shaped teeth that are thick enough to resist bending or dulling over time. Sharper teeth shred material rather than tearing it, which produces a more consistent, fluffier grind.
What is a filter tip or crutch used for?
A filter tip, also called a crutch, sits at the mouth end of a joint and gives it a firm structure to hold onto and draw through. It also helps stop loose herb from being pulled into your mouth as you smoke.
What’s the difference between a plain filter tip and an activated carbon filter?
A plain filter tip is just rolled paper or card, offering structure but no added filtration. An activated carbon filter includes a small segment of activated carbon inside the tip, which actively traps tar and particulates from the smoke as it passes through.
How does activated carbon filtration work?
Activated carbon is an extremely porous material with a huge internal surface area, and airborne particles stick to that surface as smoke passes through it. This adsorption process pulls out a portion of the tar and particulates that would otherwise reach your mouth and lungs.
Are activated carbon filters reusable?
It depends on the format. Simple paper-and-carbon tips are designed for single use and are discarded after one joint, while glass-encased filters can be cleaned out and reused many times, making them a more durable, longer-term option.
Does an activated carbon filter change the taste or draw?
Many people find carbon filters give a smoother, cooler draw since some of the harsher particulates are filtered out before reaching your mouth. Filter quality varies, so a well-made carbon filter should still let air flow smoothly without feeling restricted.
What size filter should I use?
Filter diameter needs to match your rolling papers so the joint holds together properly. Most of our filters are built to a slim, widely compatible size, but it’s worth checking the exact diameter listed on each product page before ordering.
How do I use a filter tip when rolling?
Roll the filter into a small accordion or spiral shape and place it at one end of your rolling paper before adding your ground herb. It acts as an anchor for your joint and gives you a sturdy end to hold and draw from.
Are carbon filters and rolling tips legal to buy and use in Europe?
Yes. Filter tips and activated carbon filters are ordinary smoking accessories and are legal to purchase and use across Europe. As always, what you choose to smoke with them is subject to your local laws, so check the regulations in your country or region if you’re unsure.
